MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - For one week this month, many colleges will waive their application fees and allow students in Alabama to apply for free.
The Alabama Department of Education has announced a special statewide application event from Feb. 19 - 23.
The Alabama College Application Campaign was started ten years ago to increase the number of students applying to and enrolling in higher education. Through the campaign, tons of colleges in Alabama, as well as several throughout the Southeast, have agreed to participate in the program, waiving their fees for the five-day period.
“During our college application campaign held back in October, we had over 25,000 [high school] seniors across the state apply to colleges and universities. Due to the success of this campaign, colleges and universities have agreed to host another event for students,” said ALCAC Coordinator Dr. Monica P. Mack. “Students that did not apply to a college or university during the initial campaign are encouraged to participate in this event.”
